Who We Serve: Turning Empathy into Direct Action
Our Commitment to Inclusive Care
At Rescue for Life International, our emergency crisis shelter, community childcare initiatives, and mobile crisis kits are delivered with 100% unconditional care. We serve all women, children, and families in distress without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, or belief.
Receiving our aid is completely free of any religious obligations or expectations. We are dedicated strictly to providing a safe, professional, and welcoming environment where every individual can find immediate protection, dignity, and a path to stabilization.
At Rescue for Life International (RLI), we provide frontline rescue, physical care, and operational support to those who need it most. Following our official relocation to our new Ellicott City headquarters, our Mission directly supports vulnerable families locally in Howard County, orphans internationally, the dedicated families of frontline field workers, and working parents in our community. Your partnership directly funds their safety, healing, and future.
Local Outreach: Howard County Working Families & Vulnerable Communities
Howard County is recognized as one of the wealthiest regions in the country, but this prosperity masks a harsh reality for many working families. While poverty numbers look low on paper, the high cost of living creates a massive gap. A significant percentage of households in Ellicott City and Columbia qualify as the "working poor" (ALICE families): earning too much to qualify for public federal assistance, yet not enough to survive the county's steep costs.
With local childcare averaging over $2,000 a month and an acute shortage of affordable housing, many single mothers are just one minor emergency away from distress. RLI steps directly into this gap to provide physical support, affordable care, and reliable hope to vulnerable families hidden in plain sight.
These families are the primary heartbeat of our local initiatives. We focus heavily on the hard-working single mothers, low-income parents, and at-risk youth who are doing everything right—working multiple jobs and trying to build a future—but find themselves completely trapped by the local economy.
Alongside our local working families, we extend this vital lifeline to newly arrived immigrant women and children across Central Maryland. These women face an even deeper layer of crisis: because of language barriers, legal isolation, or lack of documentation, they are entirely excluded from the traditional social safety net. They cannot access public housing, food stamps, or county subsidies. When crisis hits, they face the terrifying reality of having absolutely nowhere to turn. Whether a mother is a lifelong Maryland resident crushed by rising rent, or a newly arrived immigrant woman trying to protect her children from homelessness, RLI provides immediate, unconditional relief without bureaucratic delays.
